On Tuesday it was announced that Harvard President Claudine Gay resigned from her position. Her resignation comes just weeks after failing to share whether calling for the genocide of Jews would violate university standards.
The House of Representatives passed a bipartisan resolution condemning their testimonies.
The measure also called for the remaining university presidents to resign (UPenn’s Elizabeth Magill stepped down on Dec. 9). All four members of “The Squad” (AOC, Tlaib, Omar, Pressley) voted against the resolution. The resolution passed by a tally of 303-126.
Representative Nathaniel Moran (R-TX) reacted to the news of Gay's resignation. In doing so, he alleged that the "liberal-elite" have double standards, especially relating to anti-Semitism.

"Last month, Dr. Gay refused to identify how many students had been disciplined for antisemitic behavior on her college campus—presumably because none have," said Rep. Moran. The Harvard President’s resignation today serves as a reminder that the liberal-elite’s anti-Semitic behavior and their ethical double standards do not go unnoticed. And, thankfully, consequences are beginning to follow."
Moreover, Representative Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) – one of the authors of the bipartisan resolution alongside Representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY) – said the action that Congress took “made it clear” that Gay’s choice not to condemn anti-Semitism was unbecoming of the prestigious university.

Even presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy (R) took time during his campaign to acknowledge the historic moment in which Congress banded together against the university president's remarks, and calls for the future Harvard president to be selected by merit.

Back in 2006, I was one of 3 students appointed to the advisory board to select Harvard’s new President in 2007 after Larry Summers was forced to resign after his supposedly 'misogynistic' comments (which were badly distorted)," said Ramaswamy. "Back then, it was a foreordained conclusion that the next President would be a woman, no questions asked - shut up, sit down, do as you’re told. And it was a thinly veiled exercise in race & gender when they selected Claudine Gay. Here’s a radical idea for the future: select leadership based on *merit.* It’s a great approach, actually."
Should President Kornbluth resign, Congress will have some early vindication to begin 2024.
