Texas Representative Beth Van Duyne (R-TX) called out President Joe Biden (D) and his administration for not only neglecting the southern border but also Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) for refusing to take up HR 2 – A Republican-led bill in the House that addresses immigration reform.

“The Biden Administration purposefully destroyed our border. House Republicans are listening to the American people – we’re focused on securing the border and protecting our national security. It’s been more than 200 days since we PASSED legislation to do exactly that, but the Schumer-led Senate refuses to take it up,” said Rep. Van Duyne on social media.
Monday, the Texas congresswoman mentioned that President Biden needs to “stop playing politics” when it comes to Americans’ safety.

“The Biden Administration went from defending their disastrous border policies – despite those very policies destroying our national security by ripping our border wide open – to trying to distract by LYING about House Republicans. The White House needs to stop playing politics with Americans’ safety and work with us to shut down the record-breaking levels of illegal migration at our border,” Van Duyne said.
Furthermore, she appeared on Newsmax to discuss what the Lone Star State has done to address the southern border and the illegal immigration that flows through it.

“If you look at what Texas has done, they’ve already spent $5 billion this year in 2023. They’re increasing it to $6.5 billion to do the job the federal government should be doing. In Congress, we’re not going to tell Texas what to do,” said Van Duyne.
She continued, mentioning that the State of Texas is attempting to take the appropriate measures when addressing the border crisis, both from an “America First” perspective and from a humanitarian one.
“I’m very proud just being a resident of Texas, that they’re taking this seriously and they’re looking at the people who are dying, they are looking at the immigration issues that are being caused in our state and they’re taking action. The fact is they shouldn’t have to do that,” concluded Van Duyne.
The Texas congresswoman represents the Lone Star State’s 24th District in Congress.
