As the Biden Administration reaches the end of its days, Republicans are anxiously waiting for President-elect Donald Trump’s (R) January 20th inauguration. Though President Joe Biden (D) will no longer be leading the country, GOP members still want answers regarding the southern border. One of the administration’s harshest critics is now calling on the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) records to be preserved and reviewed by the Trump Administration.

During an appearance on CBS News’ America Decides, Texas Rep. Chip Roy (R) shared his concerns about lawmakers getting answers regarding the “Border Crisis.” Primarily, Rep. Roy has directed blame at both President Biden and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for allegedly exacerbating illegal immigration. He believes that the way the Trump Administration will find answers is through the preservation of records.

“These are the kinds of things you do when you want to make sure that you’ve got all of the information, so we can assess, and Congress has a duty – with oversight – to assess what happened here,” Rep. Roy commented.

“What did the administration know when they were releasing people in the United States? What did they know about the background of individuals when we know Venezuela prisons were being unloaded, and we have criminals coming here, and Americans died as a result,” the Texas Republican added. “There’s potential criminal activity if you have people who knowingly released dangerous individuals who were murderers in the United States.”

The ”Border Crisis” and illegal immigration were at the forefront of the 2024 presidential election, and polls indicated that Americans believed President Trump was the best candidate to answer the challenge. In Texas, the president-elect also won 14 out of the 18 counties that are within 20 miles of the border.

“We have somebody, by the way, who was alleged to have killed 20 people in his home country, who we found in New York, who had been released in Texas,” Rep. Roy informed, reiterating that Republicans want answers.

The comments come as President-elect Trump’s political rivals brace for potential “retaliation” from the incoming Trump Administration. President-elect Trump has vowed to address the “Border Crisis” and the institute mass deportations on Day 1 of his administration.
