Amidst the drones flying over New Jersey, the government being on the brink of shutting down, and the Biden Administration allegedly auctioning off sections of the border wall, another controversy struck the political world. Alexander Smirnov, the ex-FBI informant and Russian agent, pled guilty to providing false information to federal authorities. The false information he provides concerns President Joe Biden (D) and his son Hunter Biden. Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D) has responded to the guilty plea, accusing the GOP of “spreading lies” to advance their electoral prospects.
The “lies” in question involve Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company that allegedly employed Hunter Biden, had paid both Bidens $5 million each while President Barack Obama (D) was in office.
President Biden consistently denied the accusation, but the recent pardoning of his son raised red flags among some. Moreover, polling showed that an overwhelming number of Americans didn’t agree with Hunter Biden being pardoned.

Rep. Crockett has now issued a statement regarding Smirnov’s guilty plea, accusing Republicans of using Smirnov’s accusation to gain political ground.
“In spite of the attempts by my Democratic colleagues and I to verify the information given by Smirnov, Republicans used the uncorroborated claims in the document as their smoking gun to justify impeaching President Biden,” the Texas Democrat commented. “Our concerns into the claims’ veracity turned out to be well-founded: in February 2024, after thorough investigations by lawyers, the FBI, and the Department of Justice, Alexander Smirnov, the so-called confidential human source behind the false Biden corruption story, was arrested, criminally charged, and has entered a plea of guilty for providing false statements to the FBI and creating a false and fictitious record,” she added.
According to NBC News, Smirnov entered his guilty plea in a California federal court after he reached an agreement filed last week. Smirnov also pleaded guilty to tax evasion in charges related to a separate indictment.
