Gerdes Announces Re-Election, Trump and Abbott Endorsements

State Rep. Stan Gerdes (R) has announced his re-election campaign. In his campaign announcement, the Texas Republican also touted endorsements from President Donald Trump (R) and Governor Greg Abbott (R).

A fifth-generation Texan and staunch conservative, state Rep. Gerdes championed a successful legislative session and pledged to keep delivering on priorities that are important to rural and suburban Texans.

“This past session was one of the most successful for conservatives in recent memory,” he said in his re-election announcement. “We achieved real results – and I look forward to continuing to build on our successes.”

State Rep. Gerdes highlighted several key legislative victories, including helping to secure $51 billion in property tax relief and $3.5 billion in new border security funding. He also supported classroom funding and teacher raises while backing efforts to eliminate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs from public schools.

Among the legislation he authored was Grayson’s Law, increasing penalties for intoxication manslaughter committed by undocumented immigrants. The Texas Republican also led efforts to restrict food stamp purchases of soda and candy, banned lab-grown meat, and passed a measure – dubbed “Stop the Slop” – to prevent Austin from disposing of waste in rural Lee County.

He has positioned himself as a defender of Texas water, passing nearly a dozen bills to prevent foreign ownership of aquifers and to protect rural access. “I want to ensure rural Texas continues to have a strong voice in the Capitol – someone who understands our values, listens to our communities, and gets things done,” he said.

With 24 bills passed in the latest session, the announcement lists state Rep. Gerdes ranks among the top ten most effective legislators in the Texas House.

“Our work in the legislature has made Texas stronger, safer, and more secure – but we’re just getting started,” he added.
