Gov. Abbott Unveils Special Session Plans, Reviews Legislative Wins
Lt. Governor Candidate & State Rep. Vikki Goodwin: "Unbelievable... Governor Abbott vetoed the Summer EBT program, meant to feed kids from low-income households during the summer. Our Texas budget is below the threshold of spending, and yet this program might cost us too much? Surely Texans want to feed kids who otherwise may go hungry during the summer."
State Rep. Tom Oliverson, M.D.: "I am disappointed in Governor @GregAbbott_TX decision to veto SB3, but will work I good faith on a solution. Make no mistake, the upcoming special session is not about hemp, it is about legalizing an intoxicating drug, delta 9 THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. It does not matter what plant it comes from, or how it is packaged and sold....all that matters is the dose in milligrams of THC that is ingested. Hence, we must move away from the completely absurd <0.3% dry weight limit (which has already been proven to be a fraud and massively abused) and put a cap on milligrams per container."
State Rep. Brian Harrison: "As the only TxLege Republican who consistently opposed this bill, and one of only two Republicans who voted against it on final passage, this veto was necessary."
Rep. Pat Fallon: "The strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities are a clear signal not only to Iran, but to rogue states & bad actors on the world stage. The U.S. is fully committed to protecting our nation's interests as well as restoring joint security for ourselves and our allies and partners."
