State Representative Ray Lopez, (D), announced he will not run for reelection to the Texas House of Representatives, ending his legislative career after four terms. Lopez, who first took office in 2019 and previously served on the San Antonio City Council, said he is endorsing his chief of staff, Donovon Rodriguez, to run for the open seat.
I will continue to be that fighter that the district asked for,” Rodriguez said in a treasurer’s report.
The district, which includes parts of west and northwest San Antonio in Bexar County, leans Democratic. Voters in the district backed Vice President Kamala Harris with 57% of the vote in the 2024 election, suggesting that Democrats have a strong position to retain the seat.
