Hialeah Gardens, FL— House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) held a press conference and commemorative event at the famed Assault Brigade 2506 Museum to honor the 2 year anniversary of the anti-Castro, anti-Cuban government protests by the Cubans on the Island and in the exile community.

Rep. McCaul, reiterated several times during the roundtable discussion with the members of Congress and several members of the Cuban exile community, including one individual who fought in the Bay of Pigs invasion, that he stood in solidarity with the plight of the Cuban community and considered himself Cuban.

During the press conference, Rep. McCaul was asked if the U.S. needed to change course in dealing with Venezuelan Dictator Nicolas Maduro and his regime.

McCaul said that the U.S. "missed a window of opportunity" with former opposition Juan Guiadó, warning that Russia, China, and Iran have been trying to undermine the U.S.

“I thought with Guaido we had a real opportunity to take back that country. The military had to go with Guaido, but unfortunately, Maduro was able to keep them oppressed and that transition never took place, so I think we missed a window of opportunity, but its imperative that all Venezuelans that live in the United States, stand with the country and the people of Venezuela, who are so oppressed, and I think that they have said when you lift sanctions on Maduro, you are also lifting sanctions on the Castro regime in Cuba. You are also helping Russia, China, and Iran in this hemisphere because they are all tied together," said McCaul.

McCaul added that all three adversarial nations were inextricably tied together.

“You can’t dissect them, they are all foreign nation adversaries, and I think when it comes to our hemisphere, we need to wake," added McCaul
