Texas Representative Wesley Hunt (R) critiqued President Joe Biden’s (D) alleged “burdensome regulations” on the EPA. Rep. Hunt claimed that the president was being hypocritical in how he handled the gas industry in Europe and the U.S.

“Biden’s CRUSHING regulations on small business energy producers are driving prices UP for American families and doing great harm to the American Dream. The Biden Administration’s energy policy is OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF MIND,” tweeted Hunt.

The congressman continued, “They are happy to approve pipelines on the other side of the world, just not here. They are happy to buy dirty oil from rouge regimes, but not allow us to drill for it here. They are happy to allow slave labor to mine for critical minerals, but refuse to empower America companies to do it safely and ethically right here in the U.S.”

“As long as it happens somewhere else, the climate lobby will leave Biden alone. This administration needs to change the mission and empower American energy producers and the small businesses who are the lifeblood of our economy,” claimed Hunt.

The congressman stated that the U.S. has decreased its carbon footprint while European countries that Biden doesn’t enforce regulations on still use “exponentially” dirtier oil. Hunt stated that Biden supported pipelines in Europe being built but stopped the same projects in the U.S. from being built. The Texas representative pointed to the president’s calling for the end of the oil and gas industry as a motive for his actions. However, these claims muddled his argument.

Hunt is not the only lawmaker who has criticized Biden’s energy policies. Recently, Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) criticized the president.

“Biden’s war on American energy has left Americans with higher gas prices & increased dependence on foreign oil. Texas is the key to restoring U.S. energy dominance & lowering the price at the pump. I will ALWAYS fight federal overreach & protect our thriving energy industry,” tweeted the Texas politician.

The current Texas governor has attacked the president multiple times for his energy policies and his impact on the economy.

It’s worth noting that the president doesn't have the effect on gas prices that many think. Politicians don’t control gas prices, as they are dictated more by supply and demand.

Furthermore, gas prices can change depending on the time of year.

The president has been criticized for his attempts to implement green infrastructure. Biden has tried to include money for the nation’s power grid as well as funding the transition to using more electric vehicles in his Administration’s legislation. The oddly named Inflation Reduction Act was heavily focused on environmentally friendly measures.
