Representative Wesley Hunt’s (R-TX) office sent a letter to President Joe Biden’s (D) physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor to demand answers regarding the mental capacity of the Commander-In-Chief.
In the letter, Rep. Hunt states that he has “serious concerns” regarding the doctor’s decision to not facilitate a cognitive evaluation for the President.
“I write to you with serious concerns about your decision to forego a cognitive evaluation for President Biden as a part of his overall comprehensive medical exam. This choice is particularly concerning given recent events highlighting the president’s significant decline in memory,” wrote the Texas congressman.
He continued, “President Biden has entangled our country in foreign conflicts and has endangered our troops, with some tragically killed, stationed abroad. With national security being of paramount regard, the president’s health, including his cognitive health, is not merely a personal matter, it’s a matter of common interest to American citizens.”
Finally, Rep. Hunt assured that his concerns are not political but come at a time in which leadership is paramount.
“Our concerns are not right-wing talking points. In fact, a recent poll found that as many as 91% of independent voters and 73% of Democrats have apprehensions about the president’s fitness to serve another four years,” wrote Hunt.
The second page of the correspondence includes questions that the Lone Star State congressman needs answers to regarding the doctor’s standard operation procedures.
Yesterday, our office delivered a letter to President Biden’s physician.
President Biden’s cognitive deterioration is a threat to our national security.

— Rep. Wesley Hunt Press Office (@RepWPH) February 15, 2024
- Do you believe that a cognitive screening is important as part of a comprehensive medical exam for an American President?
- On what basis did you make the determination that a cognitive exam was unnecessary?
- Did you consult with anyone employed by the WH or the Biden Campaign?
- President Trump submitted to a cognitive screening in 2018, why not recommend the same for President Biden?
- Given special counsel Robert Hur’s report, why would a cognitive screening not be necessary?
- Was this your decision or President Biden’s?
Hunt requested that his questions receive answers by March 1. He concluded, “It is in the public interest and national interest to disclose any health concerns, including cognitive health concerns, that may impact our national security at home or abroad.”
The congressman represents Texas’ 38th District.
