Texas Congressmen in the U.S. House of Representatives responded to the Supreme Court decision regarding whether states can remove President Donald Trump (R) from the ballot, citing the Jan. 6 “insurrection.”
States such as Colorado and Maine have attempted to use the 14th Amendment which states that candidates can be withheld from running for office if they "have engaged in insurrection or rebellion" against the United States.
The 14th Amendment was originally designed to keep former Confederate officers from obtaining power in the Union government.
However, with the 9-0 decision from the U.S. Supreme Court in favor of President Trump, the precedent appears to have been set, giving the former President one less headache.
Representative Wesley Hunt (R-TX) said that the left side of the aisle just got “KO’d” early in the fight.

Furthermore, Representative Brian Babin (R-TX) stated that those attempting to stop President Trump should “take notice.”

Representative Troy Nehls (R-TX) simply called the news “huge.”

“Sanity prevailed today when the United States Supreme Court unanimously overturned Colorado's unconstitutional attempt to kick President Trump off the ballot. I was glad to join Sen. Ted Cruz and Leader Steve Scalise in filing an amicus brief in January supporting President Trump’s appeal,” said Rep. Van Duyne.
President Trump has yet to pick Vice President for his campaign.
