Texas Representative Wesley Hunt (R) spoke with Texas Politics and stated his beliefs that President Joe Biden (D) would blame Republicans in his upcoming State of the Union Address.
“He’s going to address the border issue. He’s going to blame House Republicans for it. He is going to say that we have failed to act on the behalf of the American people when we all know that on day 1 he signed executive orders to overturn some of Trump’s policies that kept us safe. ’Remain in Mexico’. Many others. He’s going to try to push that on us, I guarantee you,” said Rep. Hunt.
When asked about Democrats like Texas Representative Vicente Gonzalez (D) being open to the GOP-sponsored “Remain in Mexico” policy, Hunt said, “I hope so. And now that we’ve had both candidates actually go down to the border and pay attention to what’s going on with 10 million people entering our country illegally, enough fentanyl to kill every American 5 times, by now I hope so.”
“And then if you look at what happened across the country on Super Tuesday, the number 1 issue in the country is the border. So, at some point you’re going to have to come to the table with us,” continued Hunt.
The Texas politician stated his support for using military action against cartels.
“Of course I am,” said Hunt. “These people are controlling our border, and they’re killing Americans. So, at some point, what are we going to do to stop them at the federal level? And if it means force, we should use force.”
Hunt expressed his belief that the border was not a “smart” issue for Biden to bring up. He stated that Biden “doesn’t know what he’s doing.”
He continued, “But they can’t say nothing, right? That’s the number 1 issue across the country. And then he’s going to try to place the blame on us. They are absolutely going to try to bring up the border. Cause he has to. He has to.”
Hunt gave his predictions on what Biden would discuss in his speech and concluded by bashing the current state of the economy.
“He’s going to talk about the economy in terms of the stock market. But he’s not going to talk about the hyperinflation that we have seen over the past few years that middle-class Americans can’t even afford to buy groceries right now. So, he’s going to focus on what he would deem to be a highlight, but it’s really not our economy, it’s in complete shambles. But he will try to spin that,” concluded Hunt.
