Democrats are betting high on flipping Florida and Texas, and one Texas Senator stands at the center of the battle. With the Biden campaign looking to expand its influence in the Lone Star state, the race is on to oust Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R). Wary of the money that’s being spent against his reelection bid, Senator Cruz calls himself Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumers’ (D) “number one target.”

Texas Rep. Colin Allred (D) is looking to be the next Senator for Texas, and the Biden campaign believes it has a national advantage because abortion will be on the ballot in Florida in November. Voters in Florida will head to the polls to decide the fate of Amendment 4. Access to abortion is the sole issue that President Joe Biden (D) is leading on according to a recent Wall Street Journal poll that has President Donald Trump (R) leading in 6 out of 7 of the most competitive states in the country.

Because of this, Democrats expect to gain major wins in 2024.

During an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, Senator Cruz discussed his concerns over his upcoming senatorial race, saying that “the polling numbers that we’re seeing nationally are encouraging, but it's gonna be a battle to see who shows up and who votes."

“When it comes to Texas, Chuck Schumer has been explicit. He’s coming after Texas. I’m his number one target in the entire country. I’m on the ballot, I’m running for reelection, and the Democrats are coming after me," he added.

The Texas senator anticipates that over $100 million dollars will be spent on the election, noting that "George Soros is already spending millions of dollars in the state of Texas. My opponent, a liberal Democrat named Colin Allred is outraising Beto O’Rourke, my last opponent, 3-to-1. They’re flooding millions of dollars into Texas.”

In his race against Rep. O'Rourke, Senator Cruz won by 2.6%.

"Chuck Schumer, his view is, he floods millions into Texas, he gains 3 points and that's how they win," the senator said.
