Vice President Kamala Harris (D) is visiting the border this week, and Republicans argue it’s too little, too late. Early into the Biden Administration’s tenure in the White House, Vice President "Border Czar" Harris was given the responsibility to oversee the border, which Republicans argue has led to disastrous results. Texas Rep. Pete Sessions (R) is one of her fiercest critics, and in his latest comments, he suggests that Vice President Harris wants to use her border visit in her campaign ads.
In an exclusive interview with Texas Politics, Rep. Sessions discussed Vice President Harris’ upcoming visit to the border. In short, the Texas Republican isn’t sold on her border visit, arguing that “she wants to put it in her ads.”
“Kamala is completely incapable of effectively understanding policy, implications, and the results of those implications. In other words, whether it was good or bad,” he said.
Calling the border under her supervision a “mess,” Rep. Sessions further explained that “she could look at the border and think it looks perfectly normal, and I would suggest to you that when she is down there, she will offer that same analysis about how great the government employees are down there. What a great job the border patrol is doing.”
“She will fail to see the problem and how it exacerbates from their policy to allowing people to come into the United States illegally to receive the benefits of thousands of dollars including an iPhone, transportation, losing, not even caring about the children that come across that are unaccompanied minors, and she’s even incapable of understanding the federal law that is related to that,” he added.
This, he argues, is something that President Donald Trump (R) should’ve brought up in the debate.
“I wish he had, during his debate with Kamala Harris, said the opening line ‘Madame Vice President I don’t understand why you and I are debating because you’re completely incapable of understanding and articulating what you stand for, what this administration has done,” the Texas Republican commented.
Ultimately, Rep. Sessions believes that Vice President Harris reflects the current Democratic Party, which he believes is out of touch.
“She is incapable of effectively mustering up who she is, what she stands for, and is as incapacitated in her ability as any Democrat that we deal with on the floor. They talk about what they want. They have no clue what actually the results would be,” he said.
