The 2024 presidential election post-mortem begins. Republicans won Election Night, and Democrats scored significant losses, which begs the question, what happened? Democrats have attempted to offer responses, but other Democrats disagree. In an attempt to offer clarity, Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R) believe that Democrats have to blame themselves.
As the final votes are counted to determine who has control of the House, Democrats are questioning why they lost on Tuesday. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) has been blamed and accused of not being supportive enough of Vice President Kamala Harris (D). President Joe Biden (D) has been blamed and accused of staying in the race for too long. However, during an episode of his podcast, the newly-reelected senator from Texas argued that Democrats have nobody to blame but themselves.

"There's a lot of blaming of Kamala for being a terrible candidate, there's a lot of blaming of Joe Biden for having been essentially unconscious for several years," Senator Cruz commented. "I don't see the Democrats right now taking responsibility for 'gosh, we advocated an agenda that was horrible for America."
Earlier this week, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders (I), who also won reelection on Tuesday, offered a similar analysis. In a statement, Senator Sanders posited that "it should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them."

Senator Sanders ended up receiving backlash from Jaime Harrison (D), Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, who called Senator Sanders' comments "BS." "Biden was the most pro-worker president of my lifetime - saved union pensions, created millions of good paying jobs and even marched in a picket line," he responded.
New York Rep. Ritchie Torres (D), who won his reelection bid on Tuesday, also weighed in on the election through a statement, commenting that "Donald Trump has no greater friend than the far left, which has managed to alienate historic numbers of Latinos, Blacks, Asians, and Jews from the Democratic Party with absurdities like 'Defund the Police' or 'From the River to the Sea' or 'LatinX.'"
