The fact that [President Biden] didn’t show up to that game actually does kind of hurt because, again, the Commander-in-Chief is the leader of our military.

Over the weekend, the Army-Navy game was the talk of the town with lawmakers. President-elect Donald Trump (R) attended, and watching the game with him were Vice President-elect JD Vance (R), Texas Rep. Wesley Hunt (R), and others. Rep. Hunt, who graduated from West Point, also played in the game years ago, and he shared his perspective on the experience during an interview with Fox News. Speaking on President-elect Trump’s appearance at the Army-Navy game, Rep. Hunt said it shows “the void of leadership that’s been missing.”

In the interview, Rep. Hunt pointed out that President Joe Biden (D) did not attend an Army-Navy game, which is different from the support that President-elect Trump expressed with his attendance.

When asked if it was disrespectful for President Biden to miss the game, Rep. Hunt responded that “It absolutely is a sign of disrespect.”

“Keep in mind, every four years, the President of the United States gives a commencement at the academies. They do a rotating tour of that. The fact that [President Biden] didn’t show up to that game actually does kind of hurt because, again, the Commander-in-Chief is the leader of our military,” the Texas Republican expressed.

“That is the person that decides whether or not we go to war or not. That is the person that could decide whether or not we live or die. That’s the person that could decide whether or not we are going to pay the ultimate sacrifice,” he added.

In turn, Rep. Hunt explained that to have President-elect Trump attend the game was important for him as an elected official and as a West Point graduate who once played in the game

“To see that leadership that’s been missing for the past four years. That void of leadership that’s been missing for the last four years. It really meant a lot to all of us there.”
