Representative Pete Sessions (R-TX) spoke with Texas Politics in an exclusive interview regarding the slim, Republican-controlled House majority, and how this impacts President Donald Trump's (R) "Big Dream" agenda moving forward. Rep. Sessions believes President Trump's optimistic, daring platform will unite all Republicans in the lower chamber, despite a few conservative renegades.

How does Rep. Sessions describe this agenda?

He calls it "The Big Dream." A plan to restore American exceptionalism by rejecting the country's former "lead from behind" approach and replacing it with a spirit of the nation's pioneers.

The Big Dream reclaims the country's mantle of manifest destiny, venturing into North and South American areas such as Greenland, Canada, and the Panama Canal, and discovering what lies in our solar system, like a journey to Mars. This requires a reestablished spirit guided by America First principles both at home and abroad, which Sessions believes will bring all Republicans in the House and the Senate to coalesce around President Trump's vision.

He shared this vision with Texas Politics.

"Well, it's important how we look at the 218 [Republican House] votes, how do you add that up? And the first thing I would say is President Trump, for four years, campaigned off, not just what he did for the country, and not just against what the Democrats had done and what the Biden administration was doing, but he advocated actually for what I call 'The Big Dream.' And Joe Biden and Democrats have small ideas competing against a big dream," said Sessions.

The Texas congressman continued, stating that President Trump's Inaugural Address provided the blueprint for this undertaking.

"And so I think when President Trump had his inaugural address, he gave [himself] a great platform for talking about the big dream, the idea about where we're going to go. What is this Big Dream?" questioned Sessions.

He answered, saying Trump wants to usher in a "guilded age" for the country.

"Well, I think that we remember Ronald Reagan talking about the 'shining city on the hill.' President Trump talked about a new gilded age for America, and that implies work, that implies manufacturing, that implies everybody working together to form America with its standing of capitalism," said Sessions. "We are capitalists, we are Republicans. We believe in everybody gaining this opportunity."

Finally, Sessions believes that Trump's mandate acquired in this election not only proved that he has the support of Americans who reject Democrat governance but also demonstrates his command over the Republican Party.

"So, God help the one or two Republicans that decide they are not going to fall in line with his plan. He received 4 million more votes than all of us, combined, as Republicans. So I think he's earned his way to the top of the heap. I think we will do what is an agreement. Now, you come to me and say, okay, the house, you think they'll fall in line? What about the Senate? Because some of those guys are up every six years. They think they can outlast it. I think they’ll reevaluate some of this stuff," concluded Sessions.

President Trump was inaugurated on Jan. 20. His term ends on Jan. 20, 2029.
