Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D) is taking aim at President Donald Trump (R), Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (I), and the MAGA movement following the president’s decision to fire General Charles Q. Brown Jr.
General Brown, who served as the 21st Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the nation’s highest-ranking military officer, was fired over the weekend. On social media, President Trump acknowledged the firing, writing “I want to thank General Charles ‘CQ’ Brown for his over 40 years of service to our country, including as our current Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.”
Rep. Crockett, a vocal critic of the president, did not hold back in her criticism of the firing, drawing a distinction between the firing and RFK Jr. being confirmed as Health and Human Services secretary.
“RFK as the HHS secretary is symbolic of everything that MAGA is… a heroin addict with zero experience or expertise in the health of humans now runs the agency! Now if he was a Black educated & experienced doctor, he’d be ‘unqualified,’” she wrote on X.

RFK Jr. has been a controversial figure, with many criticizing his past comments regarding vaccines and public health, as well as his past struggles with substance abuse. Critics argue that his appointment is politically motivated rather than merit-based, given his lack of experience in leading a major federal health agency.
Rep. Crockett further criticized President Trump of racism in his firing of Gen. Brown. She contrasted his dismissal with Trump’s appointment of a retired three-star general as his replacement, arguing that it puts national security at risk.
“MAGA… will contort themselves to explain how they will call non-drug using members of Congress crackheads while championing an admitted addict,” she continued.
Rep. Crockett further called out President Trump’s military record, referencing his past deferments during the Vietnam War, writing, “Finally, what is more unpatriotic than Mr. bone spurs coming for a man who has actually served his country & had the experience to do the job?!”
As the president’s new administration takes shape, Rep. Crockett’s remarks exemplify growing Democratic resistance to his personnel decisions, particularly on issues of racial equity, qualifications, and national security.
