Governor Greg Abbott: "The only minority destroying America are the Democrats. They are smaller in number, but still destructive. Their policies and candidates were CRUSHED this last election. The more they double down on ideas hostile to voters, the more Republicans will win."
State Rep. James Talarico: "Governor, you keep tweeting at me. I already offered to debate vouchers in person, on your terms. You're trying to make this partisan but you know Republicans & Democrats both oppose your voucher scam. If you truly think this is right for Texas, put down your phone and debate."
State Rep. Brian Harrison: "Speaker @Burrows4TX gave a DEMOCRAT CHAIRMAN, who supports child sex change procedures, oversight of the Texas Medical Board. Let that sink it."
Rep. Greg Casar: "You can understand almost all of American politics with just two numbers: 71% of Republican voters oppose Medicaid cuts. 100% of House Republicans are trying to cut Medicaid right now."
Nathan Cunneen, American Federation for Children, Texas State Director: "Thanks to the leadership of Speaker Burrows and Chairman Buckley, the Texas House has proposed one of the strongest school choice bills in our nation’s history. Building upon the Senate’s excellent work, HB 3 would create the largest day-one school choice program in American history. Texas’s school choice legislation continues to improve at every stage in the legislative process. We look forward to working with legislators to bring a school choice bill to Governor Abbott’s desk.”
Robert Enlow, EdChoice, President & CEO: "Upon passage of HB 3, Texas will advance education freedom. Parents will be able to choose a school based on their childs unique needs regardless of their zip code or financial status. With $1 billion set aside in the budget, HB 3 has the potential to be the largest first year school choice program in the Nation. EdChoice thanks the leaders of Texas for recognizing the importance of education freedom for all families.
Educate Texas: "House Bill 2 (HB 2) represents a historic step forward for the Texas teaching workforce, introducing key incentives to attract and retain high-quality educators. By advancing strategic reforms in educator preparation, compensation, and working conditions, HB 2 strengthens the teaching profession and will foster long-term teacher retention. Critically, the bill provides for dedicated funding for teacher candidates, school districts, and high-quality preparation programs, helping to significantly reduce our states reliance on uncertified teachers—currently employed at historically high rates. Additionally, HB 2 expands strategic compensation opportunities by enhancing the Teacher Incentive Allotment, paving the way for more teachers to earn the competitive salaries they deserve. These targeted investments will not only improve teacher quality but also drive meaningful and lasting improvements in student learning outcomes.
