State Rep. Carrie Isaac (R) has joined a growing conservative effort to ensure the state budget undergoes a thorough review for potential waste, fraud, and abuse before reaching the Texas House floor. State Rep. Isaac and fellow lawmakers have called on Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows (R) and other legislative leaders to allow the Delivery of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Committee to assess the budget before it is debated by the full chamber.
In a letter addressed to Speaker Burrows and other legislative leaders, the lawmakers highlighted concerns about government inefficiencies and excessive spending. They pointed to President Donald Trump (R) and Elon Musk as examples of leaders who have exposed wasteful government practices.

"With the help of Elon Musk, President Trump has proved to America that much, if not most, of the function of our federal government serves only to waste taxpayers’ hard-earned money," the letter states. It further emphasizes the need for Texas lawmakers to take similar action, asserting, "The Texas Conservative Grassroots has made it clear that similar progress can and should be made this session regarding expenditures in our state’s budget."
The lawmakers argue that Texas is at a "truly special time" in history, as citizens seek to reclaim government accountability and reallocate funds toward "America First" priorities. "We ask for your help to pave the way for an equally momentous transformation in our chamber’s budgeting process," the letter continues.
State Rep. Isaac echoed these sentiments in a social media post, advocating for fiscal responsibility and transparency in state spending.
