Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick (R) has officially declared his candidacy for re-election in 2026, vowing to continue advancing the “most conservative agenda in Texas history.” Lt. Governor Patrick made the announcement this week, highlighting recent legislative victories and sharing President Donald Trump’s (R) endorsement.
“This Legislative Session we have already passed the most conservative agenda in Texas history – including school choice, property tax relief, investing in our water infrastructure, our electric grid, banning non-citizens from voting, and returning prayer and the Ten Commandments to our public schools,” the lt. governor shared in a statement.
A formal campaign launch is expected after the legislative session ends, but Lt. Governor Patrick said he wanted to make his intentions clear now.

“With the Legislative Session past the halfway point and many of our priority bills passed, I am announcing my 2026 re-election campaign. A more formal kickoff will come following the Session, but I wanted to make my intentions known and official,” he announced on social media.
Lt. Governor Patrick, a staunch ally of President Trump, also shared that the president has endorsed him for re-election.
“I am pleased and honored my very first re-election endorsement came from my friend and ally President Donald J. Trump,” Lt. Governor Patrick said.
President Trump echoed that support in a Truth Social post, writing, “I am proud to once again endorse Texas Lieutenant Governor, Dan Patrick, for Re-Election.”
“As Texas Chair of our Presidential Campaigns in 2016, 2020, and 2024, Dan has been an incredible friend to our Movement, helping us WIN BIG in the Primaries and General Elections,” he said. “In his next Term, Dan will fight tirelessly alongside of us to Secure the Border, Stop Migrant Crime, Grow the Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Champion School Choice, Support our Great Military/Vets, Restore American Energy DOMINANCE, and Strongly Protect our always under siege Second Amendment,” he concluded.
