During an appearance on MSNBC, Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D) sharply criticized the ongoing feud between President Donald Trump (R) and DOGE head Elon Musk, calling it an “internal civil war” that has erupted into a public spectacle.
The feud between the two comes after Musk publicly criticized the “Big Beautiful Bill,” calling on his X followers to call their representatives and have them vote against the bill.
Texas Republicans are divided on the bill. Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R) has shown support for the bill on social media, while Republicans like Rep. Chip Roy (R) have shared their grievances with the package.
In the interview, Rep. Crockett expressed her disbelief that she would ever find common ground with Musk when it comes to their shared opposition to the bill.
Elon’s mad his stuff didn’t make the bill.
A Senator is out here talking about death like it’s just the cost of doing business. Baby, it’s people’s lives. And now folks are finally waking up to the fact that this mess will hit everybody—not just a select few.

“I never thought there would be a day that I would agree with Elon on anything, but that’s where we are,” she said, emphasizing that it’s telling when people only voice concerns once policy consequences hit them personally. This, she argues, is an example of the broader need for genuine care in politics.
“Compassion is something that we are missing in Congress,” she suggested. “Like, caring is something that we are missing… that’s the only way you can justify a senator going out there and saying, ‘everybody gonna die,’” she added, referring to Iowa Senator Joni Ernst’s (R) controversial remark that “we all are going to die” when it comes to Medicaid cuts.
The feud between President Trump and Musk has escalated on social media after the president began to issue threats.
In a post on Truth Social, President Trump argued that "the easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon's Governmental Subsidies and Contracts." "I was always surprised that Biden didn't do it!"
