Representative Troy Nehls (R-TX) and three other House Republicans sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas concerning the rise of violent crimes committed by undocumented immigrants from Venezuela.

The Texas congressman said that those Venezuelan immigrants who have carried out heinous crimes are “bad hombres” and should be deported as soon as possible.

“I sent a letter to Secretary Mayorkas about the recent wave of violent crimes being carried out across America by illegal aliens from Venezuela. These bad hombres should not be able to cross the border and should be deported immediately. Enough is enough,” said Rep. Nehls.

In the letter, Rep. Nehls and the three House Republicans reiterated their Sept. 2022 attempt to have Secretary Mayorkas address a report from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regarding Venezuelan nationals infiltrating the southern border.

Mayorkas never responded to the September letter.

Therefore, the U.S. Representatives penned, “We write to reiterate the letter we sent you on September 22, 2022 … Not only have you failed to respond to our letter from over a year ago, but you have also failed to effectively secure our homeland and prevent violent criminal illegal aliens from infiltrating our communities and inflicting harm on our citizens. Specifically, the recent wave of violent crimes being carried out across America by Venezuelan nationals poses an emerging threat to the American people.”

They continued by mentioning the recent “completely preventable” tragedy involving university student Laken Riley, who was murdered by a Venezuelan immigrant while on a run.

“Most recently, the country mourned the brutal murder of 22-year-old Laken Riley, a nursing student at the University of Georgia, who was attacked while on a run by a Venezuelan national who was paroled into the U.S. in September 2022 after entering illegally and had been arrested at least once before,” wrote Rep. Nehls and the lawmakers. “The same day, Virginia authorities arrested a 32-year-old Venezuelan national in connection with sexual assault against a 14-year-old female, who had been previously detained and released by U.S. authorities after entering illegally in September 2023. Both of these vicious attacks were completely preventable, if not for your disastrous border policies.”

Representatives Byron Donalds (R-FL), Lauren Boebert (R-CO), and Tom Tiffany (R-FL) joined Rep. Nehls in the effort.
