Representative Colin Allred’s (D-TX) campaign announced they have outraised Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) by over $2.5 million with a $1 million cash-on-hand advantage in the first quarter. Sen. Cruz is looking to defend his seat in the upper chamber for the second time after winning election to the Senate for the first time in 2012.
The Texas congressman called his effort to unseat Sen. Cruz “unstoppable.”

Furthermore, Rep. Allred’s campaign manager said the recent fundraising numbers showcase that “Texans are ready for new leadership.”
“Having outraised Ted Cruz once again, it is clear that Colin Allred’s campaign has the momentum and broad coalition of support to beat Ted Cruz in November,” said Colin Allred for Senate Campaign Manager Paige Hutchinson. “The strong support from Texans across our great state shows Texans are ready for new leadership in the Senate.”
Allred has raised nearly $28 million since the launch of his campaign, according to the Texas Tribune.
He boasts $27.9 million in total donation receipts since his campaign began, including 285,000 individual contributions in 247 of Texas’ 254 counties. He has an average donation of $34.75.
Cruz has raised over $45 million but has spent nearly $39 million since from 2019 to the present, according to Open Secrets.
In 2018, Sen. Cruz faced a bit of a scare against Beto O’Rourke (D) as the incumbent won by just 2.6 points. In the state of Texas, however, that translates to over 200,000 votes.
Recently, Cruz spoke to ABC13 (Houston) and described Allred as someone who is an “extremely liberal” representative.
“Let me tell you what this election is going to be about: It’s going to be about my record, and it’s going to be about Colin Allred’s record. Colin Allred is an extremely liberal Democrat congressman whose first four years in Congress he voted 100% with Nancy Pelosi,” said Sen. Cruz.
He continued by sharing what he believes has been the consequences of Rep. Allred’s voting record.
“He’s voted in favor of open borders over and over and over again. He’s voted in favor of releasing violent criminals over and over and over again. Just a few weeks ago, he voted with Joe Biden in favor of his stopping new permits to export liquid natural gas. Every one of those votes hurts the people of Texas,” said Sen. Cruz.
Allred and Cruz will square off in November.
