U.S. lawmakers from Texas on both sides of the aisle shared their reactions to President Joe Biden’s (D) endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris (D) after he announced he would not seek reelection. A specific reason was not given for President Biden's departure, but his mental shortcomings and his poor polling numbers seem to be the main factors in the decision.

"The party that told you they were the defenders of Democracy just executed a coup d'é·tat against their nominee because he couldn’t beat Trump. Remember this November, regardless of the Democrat nominee, the policies are the same: Destruction at the southern border. Tax and spend the economy into oblivion. Attack half the country and call them fascist. Continue the foreign wars. Business as usual and America Last. The Republican Party is unified behind President Trump and we will win BIG in November, regardless of who the next Trojan horse is that comes out of the Democrat party. The soul of this nation is at stake," said Representative Wesley Hunt.
Furthermore, Representative Chip Roy found this to be a good opportunity to remind Americans that he called for Vice President Kamala Harris to invoke the 25th Amendment days ago.
All this clamoring NOW about the 25th amendment? OK, but Dems will rally around Kamala Harris, or they won’t. She will not invoke the 25th b/c she becomes Brutus. If it’s in their interest, he will resign to give her incumbency. Only question now? #ImpeachKamala b/c #KamalaKnew

Democrats
Representative Jasmine Crockett gave a scathing review of Democratic Party leaders but fully endorsed Kamala Harris.

"Well I hope the geniuses that pushed the most consequential President of our lifetime out, have a plan. WHO in the hell couldn’t sell the MF Accomplishments & win over a 34 time convicted Felon who isn’t even allowed to operate businesses in the state of NY (and therefore should automatically be disallowed from say running the country) & his ENTIRE team IS project 2025?! Joe wasn’t the problem… dems were. I know one thing, I will only work for Kamala Harris! If it’s anyone OTHER than her, enjoy campaign season… I hope all of my disenchanted colleagues are able to find some walking shoes and get to work because I WILL NOT! FULL [stop]," said Rep. Crockett.
Representative and Senate hopeful Colin Allred took a mild approach and simply thanked President Biden for his service to America and held back from endorsing a candidate.
I thank President @JoeBiden for his service and his willingness to put country before self. It’s something we need more of in our politics.
My sincere hope is that this moment brings our nation one step closer to healing, uniting and fixing our broken politics.

Vice President Harris will look to secure the nomination at the Democratic National Convention in August.
