Texas Rep. August Pfluger (R) introduced the first bill of the 119th Congress, the Protecting American Energy Production Act, earlier this year. The bill seeks to prevent any federal moratorium on fracking. Texas Rep. Brandon Gill (R) has shared his support for the bill, commenting that it stops a Democratic “sabotage” on energy independence.
The legislation comes in response to ongoing Republican concerns that Democratic policies threaten U.S. energy production and energy independence. These threats, Rep. Gill highlighted in his speech in support of the bill on the House floor.
“Across this nation, men and woman rise before dawn, lace up their books, and power America forward. They drill, refine, transport, and innovate, fueling homes factories, and cities,” Rep. Gill shared. “Yet, time and again Democrats in Washington try to strangle their livelihoods with bans, red tape, and radical restrictions.”
The Texas Republican shared that last month Democrats launched an effort “to lock away 670 million acres of land and water from energy production.” “While they push their anti-energy agenda, hard-working Americans pay the price at the pump, on their utility bills, and on their paycheck,” he added.
Rep. Pfluger’s bill would alleviate the financial burden, and Rep. Gill argues that the bill is crucial for securing America’s energy future and protecting workers in the industry.
“Congressman August Pfluger’s Protecting American Energy Production Act stops this sabotage,” he claimed, adding that the bill “blocks any president from banning fracking, unlocks leasing on public land, slashes red tape, and restores energy independence.”
“More energy means lower costs, better jobs, and a stronger America.”
When Rep. Pfluger introduced the bill, he took issue with the Biden Administration, accusing it of spending the last four years “attacking the American energy industry” and “attempting to shut it down by banning almost all new U.S. offshore drilling projects.”
