Before the opening tip-off of the 2026 NBA Finals, Representatives Greg Casar (D-TX) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) found time for a little friendly trash talk, and it came with snacks.
Casar, a proud Spurs fan and representative of San Antonio, arrived armed with butter tortillas from H-E-B, the beloved Texas chain. Sending a clear message that the Knicks were going to need the comfort food. However, Ocasio-Cortez, an unapologetic Knicks loyalist, had her own response: a bag of fresh bagels from Liberty Bagels near Penn Station.
I brought AOC tortillas from H-E-B.
They make people feel better after a tough night, and that's what the Spurs are going to give Knicks fans tonight.

"They make people feel better after a tough night," Casar told AOC as he handed over the tortillas. AOC didn't hesitate as she handed the bagels across and smiled. "We're gonna win. Knicks in four." Casar wished her luck. He probably meant it.
An Intense Game
For a while, it looked like he was right to be confident. San Antonio came out sharp, seized control, and by the middle of the third quarter had stretched their lead to 14 points.
New York was rattled, Jalen Brunson was banged up after an early injury scare, and the Spurs looked every bit like a team playing in front of their home crowd.
Then something shifted.
The Knicks defense dug in and clawed all the way back to even heading into the fourth. Then Brunson, sore, cold from the court for most of the night, simply took over.
He rattled off eight straight points to push New York ahead, and when San Antonio answered with a 9-0 run to reclaim the lead, Brunson responded with a cold-blooded corner three. Then, a leaning mid-range jumper, the Knicks reeled off 11 unanswered to close it out.
CBS reported the final score: Knicks 105, Spurs 95. A 14-point comeback.
Brunson finished with 30 points. Karl-Anthony Towns chipped in 18 points and 12 rebounds. Josh Hart grabbed 15 rebounds and was everywhere.
AOC called the Knicks in four before tip-off. After a night like that, nobody's laughing at the prediction anymore.
Casar may want to bring extra tortillas to Game 2.
