Representative Pete Sessions (R-TX) sat down for an exclusive interview with The Floridian to discuss the partisanship that has taken place since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, sparking a bloody conflict that has seen tens of thousands of deaths.
During the interview, Rep. Sessions stated that he is a “strong supporter” of Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the country’s right to self-defense.
“Well, in fact, the Prime Minister is facing his own storm, so to speak, and that is that when his country was attacked the way that they were, he had to respond. But in that response, what's happened is that there were a whole bunch of Palestinians who found that they could not have food or water or other matters. They should have thought about this, the responsibility before you attacked Israel and I am a strong supporter of Benjamin Netanyahu as Prime Minister, I believe that Israel's entitled to protect itself. I think Israel's entitled to go after all of the underground tunnels and that means moving completely through the West Bank.”
He continued by accusing some of his Democratic colleagues of siding with the Palestinians. Netanyahu spoke before Congress on Wednesday.
“But I do know that there are Democrats who have found a home with not just the Palestinians but against Benjamin Netanyahu and so they did not want him to be a speaker,” said Rep. Sessions. “So, unfortunately, what Israel used to be is a great friend of America, a bipartisan relationship, is now one party. It’s kind of sad because we need to approach the Middle East together with our Democratic colleagues.”
Moreover, Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) recently declared Vice President Kamala Harris’ (D) absence from the address to be “anti-Semitic.”
“What she said to every Jewish member of our country is that the Democrat Party has a serious anti-Semitism problem. And it is a serious problem. For the leaders of the Democratic Party, who is now apparently Kamala Harris, to not be at a joint session while Benjamin Netanyahu is speaking to Congress, speaking to the American people, and for her to no-show him at the airport, to no-show him when he speaks at Capitol Hill? Apparently, there’s probably some side meeting they’re doing behind closed doors with no cameras? Do they value Jewish people in our country? Do they value Israel, or do they not? It appears to me that they do not,” said Rep. Donalds.
Furthermore, when asked if VP Harris not showing up to the joint session is anti-Semitic in and of itself, Rep. Donalds responded, “Yeah, I do.”
The general election for President of the United States will take place on November 5.
